Biography

Heather Kunsman serves as the Legal Operations Coordinator at The Military Defense Firm, where she plays a critical role in the coordination, communication, and management of our daily legal operations. With more than twenty-two years of experience as a paralegal in the United States Air Force, Heather brings unmatched knowledge of military justice, litigation support, and legal administration to the service of our clients.

Throughout her career in uniform, Heather provided direct support to attorneys and commanders in some of the most demanding legal environments across multiple commands and overseas assignments. She has worked on courts-martial, administrative separation boards, and complex investigations, always with a focus on accuracy, discretion, and mission success. Her professionalism, calm under pressure, and commitment to detail made her a key player in base-level legal offices and high-visibility defense matters alike.

Heather’s military service was recognized with numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal with two bronze stars, the Joint Service Commendation Medal with an oak leaf cluster, and the Air and Space Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters. These honors reflect her tireless dedication, leadership, and integrity throughout a career defined by service.

At The Military Defense Firm, Heather is the operational backbone of our team. She ensures that every client interaction—whether it’s a first intake call or ongoing case coordination—is handled with care and confidentiality. She also oversees internal workflows, ensures timely execution of legal tasks, and helps keep our team focused on what matters most: delivering world-class defense for those who serve.

Heather is currently completing her Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, adding another layer to her already extensive expertise in personnel systems and organizational operations. Outside the office, she enjoys gardening, woodworking, exploring local markets, attending outdoor music festivals, and spending time with her family.
